Meet the Family
Chapel Hill B&B Greymouth.
Your Hosts, Joy and John, (photo right) have lived on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island for a number of years, and wouldn't want to be in any other place. The approach to life here is very laid back, which suits us just fine.
So that's the immediate family - but then there is the forest family of New Zealand birds.
Listen to the Tui's and Bellbird’s with their beautiful songs. Watch Wood Pigeons, Fantails, Robins, Yellow and Silvereyes, the native Wood Hen (Weka) and many other birds and waterfowl as they go about their daily task of living in the natural enviroment.
The Family
Crash is the last member of our family to still be living at home. You can see he is a pretty happy sort of a chap and even manages to keep wagging his tail while swimming.
He is a Black Labrador, and has been with us since we found him as a puppy in January of 1997.
The hens lay our free range eggs that we use for breakfast’s and baking. They have the colourful rooster as their minder.
The small flock of sheep, six in number, have their lambs in early spring (Sept). These are all raised on organic farming principles and are destined for the dinner table later in the year.
The 25 acres of natural and landscaped grounds provide a tranquil and fabulous environment for you to chill out for a day or two surrounded by New Zealand native and exotic forest and gardens.
A great place to relax away from the bustle of busy city life, or take a break from travelling.
As you stroll the bush trails and walking tracks of the Grey District be sure to keep a look out for other adopted family members, Deer, wild pig, goats and the possum. They may not be indigenous but like us their ancestors originally came to New Zealand with our ancestors.
