Chapel Hill B&B Accommodation, is a country home only 15 minutes south of Greymouth in the beautiful Marsden Valley, on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island.

The property is a name place, with the house, built in 1980, architectually designed to reflect the history of the property, which was the site of a Chapel in the 1880's.

The house reflects this hertiage in the Chapel doors, high exposed beams and lead light windows. Recently refurbished, it has been tastefully decorated with warm heritage colours flowing from room to room offering guests a warm welcome.

We've chosen to decorate our rooms in an English manner, in keeping with the heritage of the property. Built to catch the sun and amazing views, the native forest is so close you can reach out the windows and touch it.

The three bedrooms, located upstairs, are designed to make the whole experience more like staying in a friend's country house, rather than in a hotel or pub. All are light and airy, with views over the garden foliage or across our paddocks to the mountains.

Whether you are looking for somewhere to break your journey, or to enjoy a longer stay, we trust you will find our accommodation a welcome and comfortable retreat from the daily pressure in the Glorious West Coast where acres of unspoilt beauty await you. We've been welcoming weary travellers for a long time, and our superb accommodation reflects this experience. We hope to be a positive and intricate part of your New Zealand adventure.

Bordered by rainforest, forest parks, and gold-bearing rivers, Chapel Hill has 25 acres of forest, and fields with informal gardens incorporating both exotic, native trees and shrubs.

Marsden Valley was settled like the rest of the South Islands West Coast. First were the Maori looking for greenstone (jade). Then in the 1860's gold was discovered bringing many nationalities including Chinese, Americans and Europeans.

The small hill on the road passing the property is still named Chapel Hill to this day. It is an amazing coincidence that the first guests at Chapel Hill New Zealand, were an American couple (and their son) from Chapel Hill in North Carolina!
